Vapour Pressure Analyser

Vapour Pressure Analyser

The Vapour Pressure Analyzer or VPA measures the vapor pressures of solids, liquids and oils using the Knudsen effusion method.

The vapour pressure is an important material physical property that defines the amount of vapor phase material that exists in equilibrium with the original material. All materials enter the vapour phase by sublimation (solid – gas) or evaporation (liquid – gas).

The vapor pressure of a material at thermodynamic equilibrium is a fundamental property of the material and is only a function of temperature.

  • Experimental temperature  20°C - 85°C, sample mass up to 1 g
  • Sample pre-heater up to 400°C
  • Rotary pump Vacuum pressure 1 x10-3Torr.
  • Turbomolecular pump in combination with rotary pump 10-7Torr.

DVS Resolution

DVS Resolution

Dual Vapor Gravimetric Sorption Analyzer

DVS Resolution's key feature is the combined ability to precisely control and measure temperature and relative humidity while recording the highest resolution changes in mass. DVS Resolution uses a dry carrier gas typically nitrogen or compressed air for its operation. Digital mass flow controllers regulate flows of dry and saturated gases.

Relative humidity is generated by precisely mixing dry and saturated gas flows in desired flow ratios which produce expected relative humidity. In a typical experiment a known concentration of water vapor is delivered over a sample placed inside the sample pan connected to the Surface Measurement Systems Ultrabalance™ measuring realtime mass changes caused by sorption or desorption of water molecules. Prior to sorption measurements, the sample can be in-situ preheated/dried at temperatures of up to 300oC.

Additionally, the sample chamber and water vapor generation are at thermal equilibrium in a single temperature enclosure allowing for operation over the entire temperature range (5-85 oC) without risk of condensation.

DVS Endeavour

DVS Endeavour

A key feature of DVS Endeavour is the ability to precisely control and measure temperature and relative humidity while simultaneously recording the highest resolution changes in mass on up to 5 samples. Additionally Organic vapor partial pressures can now be directly measured using Surface Measurement Systems' Ultrasonic sensor (patent pending). In a typical experiment a known concentration of water vapor or organic vapor is delivered over a sample placed inside the sample pan. The sample pan is connected to the Surface Measurement Systems Ultrabalance™ measuring real-time mass changes caused by sorption or desorption of water and/or organic molecules.

  • Simultaneous 5X sample measurement
  • Organic and Water vapor sorption kinetics
  • Organic vapor sorption in a fixed RH background
  • Real time partial pressure measurement and control
  • Water vapor sorption isotherms from 5 to 85 oC
  • Organic vapor sorption isotherms from 5 to 50 oC
  • In-situ drying of samples to 300oC
  • Optional Color Video Microscopy/Fiber Optic Probe Spectroscopy
  • True0™ drying at 0.0% RH

X-ray fluorescence (XRF)

X-ray fluorescence (XRF)

X-ray fluorescence technology provides one of the simplest, most accurate and most economic analytical methods for the determination of the elemental composition of most types of materials. The technique is generally non-destructive, requiring little if any sample preparation, and is suitable for solids, liquids, powders and alloys.
  • Measure a wide range of elements, from beryllium (5) to uranium (92) with the highest sensitivity.
  • Rigaku provides sub-ppm detection limits for many applications (for example ultra-low sulfur requirements for fuel oils)
  • Rigaku provides the only high powered (200 W) X-ray tube benchtop WDXRF system

X-ray diffraction (XRD)

X-ray diffraction (XRD)

X-ray diffraction (XRD) is one of the most important non-destructive tools to analyze all kinds of matter—ranging from fluids, to powders and crystals. From research to production and engineering, XRD is an indispensable method for materials characterization and quality control. Rigaku has developed a range of diffractometers, in co-operation with academic and industrial users, which provide the most technically advanced, versatile and cost-effective diffraction solutions available today.
  • The most powerful and versatile benchtop diffractometer in the market.Full automated alignment under computer control. High resolution θ/θclosed loop goniometer drive system and cross beam optics (CBO)
  • In-plane scattering arm, and an optional 9.0 kW rotating anode generator.
  • New HiPix 3000 photon counting X-Ray detector

SMX Small molecule X-ray

SMX Small molecule X-ray

Rigaku offers state-of-the-art in a chemical crystallography system with the DECTRIS PILATUS 200K hybrid pixel array detector (HPAD), the very same technology CERN used to detect the putative Higgs boson. XtaLaB P200 is the perfect choice of X-ray diffractometer for both day-to-day routine crystal structure determinations and the more challenging high-resolution electron density studies.
  • Choice of goniometer, 4-circle κ, 4-circle partial-χ, 3-circle fixed-χ
  • Choice of X-ray sources, 3 kW sealed tube, Microfocus seal tube, 1.2 kW microfocus rotating anode, 5.4 kW rotating anode, 2.97 kW microfocus rotating anode
  • Choice of radiation, Molybdenum, Copper

iGC-SEA Surface Energy Analyser

iGC-SEA Surface Energy Analyser

The iGC Surface Energy Analyzer (SEA) continues Surface Measurement Systems' pioneering history with inverse gas chromatography (IGC), which now spans more than fifteen years.

The SEA is a second generation Inverse Gas Chromatograph instrument. The revolutionary SEA is the world's only commercial instrument based on the ICG principle.

The unique SMS injection scheme provides a wide range of injection concentrations with unrivalled accuracy and reproducibility.

  • Fully automated operation
  • Up to 12 different probe gas molecules
  • Wide temperature range

DVS Vacuum

DVS Vacuum

The adsorption of vapors on porous materials is important and vital within numerous industries.

Traditional gravimetric methods are based on using a ‘static' vacuum technique. This method is limited by the fact that ‘out-gassing' of the vacuum chamber contents significantly contributes to the measured pressure and hence to the sorption measurements.

You can now enjoy the capability of obtaining accurate sorption properties of your materials using solvents and gases using our latest DVS Vacuum analyser.

  • Experimental pressures 7×10-6 mbar at 20-70° C.
  • Pre-heat samples up to 400°C under high vacuum.
  • Multi-component experiments with water and organic vapors gases

DVS Intrinsic

DVS Intrinsic

The DVS Intrinsic is the latest dynamic gravimetric water sorption analyser from Surface Measurement Systems.

The Intrinsic was specifically designed to meet the needs of the small to mid-sized laboratories and plants. It combines ease of use with a low capital investment and maintenance burden. The system incorporates the SMS UltrabalanceTM, and industry leading electronics.

The user interface combined with the step-by-step software wizards yield high performance with minimal operator training. .Water vapor only.

  • Experimental temperature 20 – 40° C
  • Small footprint, compact design
  • Up to 5 units from 1 PC via DVS-IntrinsiLinkTM
